Goals

We will be doing what we can to help widows and children step out of poverty and provide for themselves. We will constantly be evaluating the potential impact, both positive and negative, that buildings will have on our ministry and our finances over the next few years. We will only build when the need is clear and the funds are available.

Praying and believing that God will open doors for The Widows’ Might, our goal is to have the following in place by December 31, 2018:

  •          A ministry center on up to ½ acre of land in Muxara, about 15 minutes from Pemba. This initial complex of buildings for The Widows’ Might will provide housing for Nunu and Amanda, guest housing for visitors, office space and a classroom. The ministry center will grow its own food on site as an example of good stewardship and as a demonstration project for Farming God’s Way.

  •          A second ministry center on 8+ acres of land in Nanua, about 60 minutes from Pemba. This second location will be a farming and housing cooperative in which widows will live in their own homes while working on the farm to raise crops and animals for their own use and for sale in nearby towns. A complex of building will house mission volunteers and a classroom that will also function as a community center and worship space. As large buildings are hard to build and maintain, we will be looking towards a camp model for the complex.

We must work hard to gain trust upfront and not rush things, while getting to know those around us. We don’t want to become known as a place for handouts, but for encouraging hard work while offering a hand up.
